ABSTRACT
Abstract The particle breakage of calcareous sands plays a key role in determining the shape and shear strength. This process has been analysed current study by employing ring tests on sampled from South China Sea. In this study, set parameters, e.g. roundness aspect ratio, have employed to quantify geometrical properties pre- after breakage. These two parameters found correlate well with vertical loading stress level, strain leads change micro-structure during test, as illustrated Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images. It is that shearing deformation, breakages can effectively reduce, while rearrangements increase strength sands.
