ABSTRACT
Technology is presented for recycling the negative segments of nickel-cadmium batteries based on the use of sodium ethyelenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) as a leaching (complex-forming) reagent. Methods are proposed for recovering the solvent and cadmium oxide preparation, suitable for manufacturing alkaline storage batteries. The technology developed is distinguished by a high degree of cadmium extraction into saleable product, selectivity, ecological safety, the possibility of complete recovery of solvent, and absence of harmful effluents and secondary waste.
