ABSTRACT
Abstract The phytohormone ethylene is widely involved in many developmental processes and a crucial regulator of defense responses against biotic abiotic stresses plants. Ethylene-responsive element binding protein, member the APETALA2/ethylene response factor (AP2/ERF) superfamily, transcription that regulates stress-responsive genes by recognizing specific cis -acting target DNA. A previous study showed only NMR structure AP2/ERF domain AtERF100 complex with GCC box DNA motif. In this report, we determined crystal AtERF96 at atomic resolution. We analyzed residues conserved recognition sequence. addition to domain, an N-terminal α-helix participates interaction flanking region. also demonstrated EDLL motif, unique motif group IX family, might involve transactivation defense-related genes. Our establishes structural basis box, as well mechanisms domain.
