ABSTRACT
Abstract Introduction This study explores the integration of precision agriculture technologies (PATs) in rainfed cereal production within semi-arid regions. Methods utilizing Veris 3100 sensor for apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa) mapping, differentiated management zones (MZs) were established experimental plots Valsalada, NE Spain. Site-specific variable dose technology was applied seed and fertilizer applications, tailoring inputs to distinct fertility levels each MZ. Emphasizing nitrogen (N) management, evaluated impact variable-rate applications on crop growth, yield, use efficiency (NUE), economic returns. For 2021/2022 2022/2023 seasons, seeding rates ranged from 350 450 grains/m 2 , basal dosages varied between high low levels. Additionally, total units distributed differently two while maintaining a uniform topdressing across all treatments. Results revealed significant increase yield MZ (higher fertility) compared 1 (lower fertility). NUE demonstrated notable improvement 2, emphasizing effectiveness N applications. Economic returns, calculated as partial net income, showed considerable advantage over 1, resulting negative outcomes low-fertility areas several analyzed scenarios, highlighting financial benefits tailored input management.
