ABSTRACT
The role of the A>G polymorphism at position 19911 in prothrombin gene (factor [F] 2 rs3136516) as a risk factor for venous thromboembolism [VTE] is still unclear. To evaluate presence F2 VTE patients compared to healthy blood donors and adjust results common inherited thrombophilias [IT], age onset group [BG], calculate recurrence. We investigated 1012 Caucasian with diagnosis rs3136516 these 902 donors. Odds ratios [OR] together their 95% confidence intervals were calculated adjusted F5 rs6025, rs1799963, group, gender. In addition, we evaluated recurrent during patient follow-up calculating hazard [HR] CI. Compared AA wildtype, GG AG genotypes (rs3136516) associated (OR 1.48 1.45). OR carriers controls was 5.68 2.38 (rs1799963). BG "non-O" significantly more often diagnosed "O" 2.74). recurrence occurred males (HR 2.3) combined thrombophilia 2.11). Noteworthy, alone not GG/GA moderate factors VTE. Recurrence male gender thrombophilia.
