ABSTRACT
Abstract Enzyme adenosine deaminase (ADA) is a marker of inflammation in domestic animals, but it unclear whether reliable oxidative stress, especially the transition period dairy cows. This study aims to assess if ADA and redox status measurements saliva provide same utility detect disease condition as that obtained from serum. Sixty-eight multiparous Holstein cows, between 2 3 weeks postpartum were selected. Five groups established: control (healthy), cows with ketosis, mastitis, laminitis, metritis. The parameters measured activity, total oxidants (TOS), antioxidants (TAC), OSi ratio. Regarding status, no significant differences arise both serum being correlations negative not significant. In saliva, activity healthy differs those pathological processes, having lowest activities. serum, similar ketosis showing activities meanwhile animals or metritis have significantly higher conclusion, measurement does give consistent results, preferable measure them during period.
