ABSTRACT
This paper proposes a shaping technique for the design of irregular low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, based on which a practical optimal design algorithm for irregular LDPC codes with specified block length is presented. Simulation results show that the optimized codes at moderate block length with less computation cost can also beat Turbo codes, which demonstrates that the proposed algorithm is effective.
