ABSTRACT
In spite of advances in antibiotics, urinary tract infection (UTI) is still among the most common reasons for antibiotic medication worldwide. Persicaria capitata (Buch.-Ham. ex D. Don) H.Gross (P. capitata) a herbal medicine used by Miao people China to treat UTI. However studies its mechanism are challenging, owing complexity P. with multiple constituents acting on metabolic pathways. The objective this study was explore working infection.Relinqing® granule, which solely made from aqueous extracts whole plant, study. Urine metabolomics based gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy employed assess changes caused administration Relinqing® granule UTI mouse model. Female specific-pathogen-free Kunming mice were divided into control group (mock infection, saline treatment), model (E.coli ciprofloxacin and sham-Relinqing® (no surgery, treatment). The results showed that after treatments, urine levels itaconic acid increased 4.9 fold 11.3 compared groups respectively. Itaconic an endogenous antibacterial metabolite produced macrophages, also functions as checkpoint reprogramming macrophage. Our findings suggest can cure through modulation immune system.
