ABSTRACT
Abstract This paper summarises the proceedings and discussions at third annual workshop held in Tübingen, Germany, dedicated to advancement of technical, scientific clinical applications combined PET/MRI systems humans. Two days basic technical instructions with “hands-on” tutorials were followed by 3 invited presentations from active researchers this associated fields augmented round-table dialogue boards specific themes. These included use paediatric oncology adult neurology, cardiology, development multi-parametric analyses, efforts standardise examinations allow pooling data for evaluating technology. A poll taken on final day demonstrated that over 50 % those present felt while technology underwent an inevitable slump after its much-anticipated initial launch, it was now entering a period slow, progressive development, new key emerging. In particular, are focusing exploiting complementary nature physiological (PET) biochemical (MRI/MRS) within morphological framework (MRI) these devices can provide. Much discussion summed up when one speaker commented state PET/MRI: “ real work has just started ”.
