ABSTRACT
Abstract This work presents a novel triple-renewable energy system (TRES) that is based on integrating the photovoltaic panels (PVPs), conventional solar chimney (CSC), and cooling tower (CT) in one structure. The ultimate objective of proposed TRES to produce electrical power (P elc ), desalinated water (D w if required utilities. components include tower, collector, base, PVPs, pool, bi-directional turbine, sprinklers. can be operated as CSC during daytime CT at night providing 24-h operation. PVPs were integrated within structure increase P production enhance process performance by heating air inside system. increased efficiency 0.860% comparison with (0.313%). annual from was found 792 MWh compared only 380 generated achieving 2.1 folds overall improvement. CSC-PV contributed 47% (494 MWh) 24% (253 production, respectively. D 1.2-fold higher (163,142 tons) than (139,443 tons). newly developed offers great potential save fossil fuel consumption while reducing emissions greenhouse gasses (GHGs) atmosphere.
