ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose The ambitions for a more sustainable aquaculture sector in Norway demand the need new ingredients that could be incorporated into feeds. In this context, Calanus finmarchicus products (powder, oil, and hydrolysate) emerge as potential local scalable sources of oil protein. Despite this, there are no studies literature analyzing possible environmental impact these products. goal study is to measure impacts Methods We applied an attributional life cycle assessment method consider supply chain from processing company CALANUS AS data fishers , inputs analysis. product system boundaries were cradle-to-gate, sixteen categories considered analysis according footprint (EF) method. A sensitivity was evaluate allocation electricity mix used production stage. Results results indicate considering economic allocation, accounts highest on different categories, especially due combustion fossil fuels needed harvesting, freezing board, transport port. Moreover, scenario showed considered, impacting drastically addition, it found better than other protein some categories. Conclusions suggest show promising increase sustainability Norway. Future research highlights holistic incorporating social aspects. future account biodiversity ecosystems, during harvesting. Graphical
