ABSTRACT
To explore the effect of T2DM on cerebral perfusion, and relationship between perfusion changes cognitive impairment as well diabetic variables, by using a whole-brain arterial spin-labeling (ASL) MRI technique. This prospective study was approved local institutional review board performed November 2012 October 2013. All subjects provided informed consent. Forty patients 41 age-, sex- education-matched healthy controls were included. Cerebral blood flow (CBF) map obtained pulsed ASL imaging at 3 T MRI. Voxel-wise comparisons CBF maps with without partial volume effects (PVEs) correction groups. Associations functioning, variables investigated voxel-wise, correlation analyses. In patients, PVEs uncorrected decreased in posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), precuneus bilateral occipital lobe, increased anterior (corrected P < .05). These largely unchanged after correction. Correlation analyses revealed that hypoperfusion PCC regions related to higher insulin resistance level deficits clock-drawing performance, while associated worse visual-memory regardless The pattern resembles observed early stage dementia, might be an important risk factor treatment target for such dysregulation.
