ABSTRACT
The ability to measure and control the composition of activated sludge is an important issue, aiming at evaluating effectiveness changes occurring in sludge, what determines its usefulness treat wastewater. In this research, diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform (FTIR–DRIFT) technique was used, which relies on measuring powdered substance’s surface layer capturing spectra range wave. First, correlation table substances mostly wastewater developed assess main components tested samples sludge. simplest compounds containing functional groups characteristic for particular chemical classes were chosen: peptides (peptone albumin), fats (glycerin fatty acids), carbohydrates (glucose sucrose), nitrogen (NaNO3 NH4SO4), sulfur (Na2SO4 Na2S2O3), silicate, etc. those captured absorption bands respective bonds function assigned. Second, from lab-scale membrane bioreactors (MBRs), purifies petroleum wastewater, taken. Samples properly prepared (lyophilization homogenization) their captured. During analysis, previously used. obtained amides, peptides, carbohydrates, fats, aliphatic identified. profile sample MBR feed with slightly different sample’s spectra. Intensity area phenols clearly higher. This study proves FT-IR observe
