ABSTRACT
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the kinetics both free and esterified forms cholesterol contained in a emulsion that binds LDL receptors (LDE) subjects with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), same under effects high‐dose simvastatin treatment, as compared control normolipidemic group (NL). Twentyone FH patients (44.0±13.0 yr, 12 females, levels 6.93±1.60 mmol/L) 22 (44.0±15.0, 10 3.15±0.62 were injected intravenously 14 C‐cholesteryl ester 3 H‐cholesterol. also evaluated after 2 mon 40 or 80 mg/d plasma samples collected over 24 h determine residence time (RT, h) LDE labels, expressed median (25%; 75%). RT H‐cholesterol greater than NL [FH: 36.0 (20.5; 1191.0), NL: 17.0 (12.0–62.5), P =0.015; FH: 52.0 (30.0; 1515.0); 20.5 (14.0–30.0) <0.0001]. Treatment reduced by 36% ( <0.0001), 49% =0.0029 vs. baseline), 44% =0.019 baseline). After values approached =0.58), but still those for =0.01). removal cholesteryl esters delayed patients. high dose normalized not cholesterol.
