ABSTRACT
Recently, two polymorphisms (rs1884052 and rs3778099) of estrogen receptor alpha (ER-alpha) gene were identified as being associated with primary quantitative bone mineral density (BMD) in a genome-wide association (GWA) study Framingham cohorts. In this we aimed at investigating the rs1884052 rs3778099, another polymorphism (rs2234693) located intron 1 ER-alpha BMD, body mass index (BMI), glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol (CHO) levels Chinese Hans. We recruited 425 consecutive adult volunteers who had physical examination Jinan Maternity Child Care Hospital. did not observe significant rs3778099 BMI, levels. For rs2234693, increased BMD for hip, spine or whole-body regions consistently observed TT/TC genotype carriers than CC carriers, although board line significance diminished after adjusting age gender. However, rs2234693 glucose CHO our sample. Subjects TC/CC genotypes an level (p = 0.013) 0.032) subjects TT genotypes. conclusion, confirm originally discovered GWA study; however, made novel discoveries that was
