ABSTRACT
Abstract Although considerable research has been conducted on mathematical modelling and creativity separately, relatively few studies have explored their intersection. This study builds the framework established by Lu Kaiser to conceptualise in modelling. In paper an elaborated model of that is unique presented appropriate assessment methods are developed. Creativity redefined this context a new method for measuring it proposed. The extends previously identified elements includes empirical test assess 141 pre-service mathematics teachers from two types teacher education institutes China were assessed performance using newly developed scoring system. Statistical analysis revealed significant findings: preservice showed different levels tasks, differences observed between groups institutes. These findings enrich understanding how manifests itself They also highlight importance developing pedagogical strategies foster creative competencies future teachers.
