ABSTRACT
Hemiarthroplasty is the most commonly used treatment for displaced femoral neck fractures in elderly. There limited evidence literature of improved functional outcome with cemented implants, although serious cement-related complications have been reported. We performed a randomized, controlled trial patients 70 years and older comparing implant (112 hips) an uncemented, hydroxyapatite-coated (108 hips), both bipolar head. The mean Harris hip score showed equivalence between groups, 70.9 group 72.1 uncemented after 3 months (mean difference, 1.2) 78.9 79.8 12 0.9). In group, duration surgery was 12.4 minutes shorter intraoperative blood loss 89 mL less. Barthel Index EQ-5D scores did not show any differences groups. rates mortality were similar Both arthroplasties may be good results fractures.
