ABSTRACT
Hip arthroscopy for labral tears improves short-term function, but reoperations occur in 5% to 47% of patients. The effect borderline acetabular coverage on reoperation rate has been debated. Labral repair rather than débridement proposed improve the is unclear. We determined whether (1) compared adequate increased and (2) reduced reoperations. We retrospectively reviewed 106 patients (mean age, 39 years) who underwent hip tears. Based radiographs, we classified into those with (n = 50) or 56) coverage. We further divided each group repair: coverage, n 25 25, respectively; 17, respectively. assessed versus repair, modified Harris scores (mHHSs), survival. Minimum followup was 12 months (mean, 33 months; range, 12-65 months).Twenty-three had reoperations. Reoperation higher lower débridement. Survival similar four subgroups although there a tendency early Improvement mean mHHS comparable subgroups. We found rates. likelihood reoperation, especially hips associated high rates coverage.Level IV, prognostic study.
