ABSTRACT
Displaced femoral neck fractures usually are treated with hemiarthroplasty. However, the degree to which design of implant used (cemented or uncemented) affects outcome is not known and may be therapeutically important. In this randomized controlled trial, we sought compare cemented cementless fixation in bipolar hemiarthroplasties at 5 years terms (1) Harris hip scores; (2) fractures; (3) overall health outcomes using Barthel Index EQ-5D (4) complications, reoperations, mortality since our earlier report on cohort 1-year followup. We present followup a median after surgery (range, 56-65 months) from trial comparing hemiarthroplasty (112 hips) an uncemented, hydroxyapatite-coated (108 hips), both head. Results were previously reported followup. scores, Index, scores assessed by one research nurse orthopaedic surgeon.
