ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose Cancer patients require implantation of venous access devices to meet their personalized therapeutic needs, which are often complex due the nature medication and disease status. Therefore, it is essential have standardized protocols that guarantee best results in health patient safety. Methods To learn about availability aspects related safety clinical practice detect possible opportunities for improvement, a survey has been conducted various Spanish hospitals, addition review evidence regarding available complications associated with administration chemotherapy. Results As result both analyses, Foundation Excellence Quality Oncology (ECO), Society Medical (SEOM), Nursing (SEEO) developed catheter selection algorithm based on characteristics treatment facilitate decision-making process, as well some recommendations aimed at ensuring rational use resources.
