ABSTRACT
Abstract In this study, the impacts of solutal Marangoni phenomenon on multiphase flow in static and micromodel geometries have experimentally been studied interactions between oil droplet two different alkaline solutions (i.e. MgSO 4 Na 2 CO 3 ) were investigated. The tests revealed that convection exists presence which should carefully be considered porous media. experiments, observations showed flooding, fluids stayed almost stationary, while a spontaneous movement was detected. changes distribution circular due to effects can effective draining unswept regions. dimensional analysis for possible mechanisms viscous, gravity diffusion forces negligible other such as capillary investigated experiments. value new defined Marangoni/capillary dimensionless number solution orders magnitude larger than flooding scenario explains differences cases also conclusion, is activated by creating an ultra-low IFT condition problems profoundly increasing phase mixing microscopic efficiency.
