ABSTRACT
Self-efficacy has been found to have a direct relation with self-care in diabetes. Several tools developed and used for evaluating self-efficacy of diabetic patients, the most widely being Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES). The aim present study was translate, culturally adapt, validate Greek DMSES (GR-DMSES) order it be ATTICA pilot SmartCare EU-funded project.Using standard procedures, original version translated adapted into Greek. Content validity assessed by an expert panel calculation content index overall scale. Α convenient sample recruited complete questionnaire. Psychometric testing produced instrument included internal consistency test (Cronbach's alpha), construct (factor analysis), stability (intraclass correlation coefficient).One hundred sixteen aged 36-86 years, type 2 diabetes (T2D) participated study. There were no items excluded from scale after procedure. coefficient Cronbach's alpha 0.93 intraclass 5-week time interval 0.87 (P < 0.001). Factor analysis yielded four factors related diet, medical therapy, medication feet check, physical activity.The findings supported that GR-DMSES reliable valid measuring self-management, thus providing quick easy-to-use tool health professionals dealing adults T2D.
