Palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by sterile pustules on the palms and soles. This study evaluated epidemiology of PPP using claims electronic health record (EHR) databases. Patients coded for in United States (US) Japan from 2016 to 2020 were identified. Several definitions evaluated; specific definition (≥ 2 visits PPP, second 31–730 days after diagnosis) was chosen characterizing epidemiology. Baseline characteristics pre- post-diagnosis treatments summarized. Prevalence incidence rates analyzed calendar year, sex, age, database. higher than US. prevalence increased over time. occurred predominantly adulthood more common among women. Features metabolic syndromes, anxiety, depression US patients. Consistently high baseline use anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory/anti-rheumatic, obstructive airway disease observed Potential miscoding or misclassification limited this analysis. estimates databases may differ field- population-based approaches.
