ABSTRACT
Abstract Edible packaging plays an important role in protecting food products from physical, mechanical, chemical, and microbiological damages by creating a barrier against oxidation, water, controlling enzymatic activation. The employment of active agents such as plant extracts, essential oils, cross-linkers, nanomaterials edible promises to improve barrier, other properties materials well products. In the current review, we have compiled information on recent advances trends developing composite (binary ternary) for application. Several types cross-linking agents, their functions (active composite) been discussed. present study provides collective about high- (high-pressure homogenizer, ultrasonication, microfludizer) low-energy (phase inversion temperature composition spontaneous emulsification) methods nanoformulations. addition, concepts comprehensive studies required coatings films applications, overcoming challenges like consumer acceptance, regulatory requirements, non-toxic scaling up commercial also
