First real-world experience with mobile health telemonitoring in adult patients with congenital heart disease

ABSTRACT
Arrhythmias and heart failure are common invalidating sequelae in adult patients with congenital disease (CHD). Mobile health (m-Health) enables daily monitoring a timely response that might prevent deterioration. We present an observational prospective registry to evaluate feasibility of m‑Health telemonitoring program for managing arrhythmia, blood pressure symptomatic adults CHD.Symptomatic CHD enrolled program, which evaluates single-lead ECG, weight measurements. In case symptoms extra measurements could be performed. Data collected by mobile apps, matched individualised thresholds. Patients contacted if thresholds were exceeded or arrhythmias found, treatment adjustments reassurance. on emergency care utilisation, hospitalisation patient-reported outcome measures used assess quality life self-management.129 invited participate, 55 participated. Reasons refusing consent included too time consuming participate research (30) monitor vital signs (14). At baseline 22 New York Heart Association class ≥ II failure, 43 had palpitations documented arrhythmias, 8 hypertension. Mean follow-up was 3.0 months, one patient dropped out, adherence 97%.The first results indicate this is feasible high adherence.
