ABSTRACT
This position paper discusses the challenges of blockchain applications in businesses and public sector related to an excessive degree transparency. We first point out types sensitive data involved different patterns use cases. then argue that implications blockchains' information exposure caused by replicated transaction storage execution go well beyond often-mentioned conflicts with GDPR's "right be forgotten" may more problematic than anticipated. In particular, we illustrate trade-off between protecting increasing process efficiency through smart contracts. also explore which extent permissioned blockchains novel cryptographic technologies such as self-sovereign identities zero-knowledge proofs can help overcome transparency challenge thus act catalysts for adoption diffusion organizations.
