Proposal of a comprehensive definition of modified and other forms of mycotoxins including “masked” mycotoxins

As the term "masked mycotoxins" encompasses only conjugated mycotoxins generated by plants and no other possible forms of their modifications, we hereby propose for all these a systematic definition consisting four hierarchic levels. The highest level differentiates free unmodified from those being matrix-associated modified in chemical structure. following lower levels further differentiate, particular, "modified into "biologically modified" "chemically with variations metabolites former dividing latter "thermally formed" "non-thermally ones. To harmonize future scientific wording subsequent legislation, suggest that should be used to kept fraction biologically were plants.
