ABSTRACT
To explore disease risk through the measurement of BMI scores and waist circumferences in older Mexican adults with favorable health statuses to determine how this is associated sociodemographic characteristics. Using data from National Health Nutrition Survey 2006, we created a cross-sectional design selected 878 participants (60 years or older) who had statuses. The demographic data, status, body mass index (BMI), circumference (WC), an estimation (arterial hypertension, diabetes type 2, metabolic syndrome) were obtained survey. prevalence overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity 42.1%, 29.7%, 80.9%, respectively. Disease risks, which classified as least, increased, high, very 14.7%, 17.5%, 38.7%, 29.1%, We observed that younger age has higher for decreases increases until it becomes minimal. After controlling some factors such tobacco, alcohol, physical activity, being female, younger, married are all significantly high disease. On other hand, indigenous, having low education level, living rural setting protective minimum risk. rates among adults. increases, decreases, also occurs lifestyle setting, married.
