ABSTRACT
Tumor spatial heterogeneity is an important prognostic factor, which may be reflected in medical imagesImage texture analysis approach of quantifying that not appreciated by the naked eye. Different methods can applied including statistical-, model-, and transform-based methods.Early evidence suggests has potential to augment diagnosis characterization as well improve tumor staging therapy response assessment oncological practice. This review provides overview application with different imaging modalities, CT, MRI, PET, date describes technical challenges have limited its widespread clinical implementation so far. With further efforts refine application, image develop into a valuable tool for oncologic imaging. TEACHING POINTS : • factor. Image heterogeneity. applied, methods. Texture could diagnosis, staging, assessment.
