ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Intrinsic capacity is the combination of individual physical and mental abilities, reflecting aging degree older adults. However, mechanisms metabolic characteristics decline in intrinsic are still unclear. Aims To identify signatures associated pathways based on metabolite features. Methods We recruited 70 participants aged 77.19 ± 8.31 years. The five domains were assessed by Short Physical Performance Battery (for mobility), Montreal cognition assessment cognition), 30-Item Geriatric Depression Scale psychology), self-reported hearing/visual impairment sensory) Nutritional risk screening vitality), respectively. serum samples analyzed liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, followed set enrichment analysis pathway analysis. Results There 50 with a at least one domains. A total 349 metabolites identified from their samples. Overall, 24 differential metabolites, 5 sets 13 capacity. Discussion Our results indicated that had unique metabolomic profiles. Conclusion specific change acyl carnitines was observed to be feature Dysregulation pentose phosphate arginine ornithine metabolism strongly
