ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose of Review The comprehensive assessment timber and fuelwood harvesting operations through the consideration three pillars sustainability: Economic, social, environmental has not received much attention. use criteria can significantly improve impact assessment. Therefore, objective this review paper is to compile analyze most commonly used indicators for each dimension sustainability in logging over last 6 years. This provides an overview these different machines, geographical areas, slope classes, time periods, types research, silvicultural treatments. Recent Findings pillar was studied (46%), followed by economic (38%). Productivity investigated criterion (15%). On one hand, productivity linked social pillars, as it related level greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, employment rate. However, mainly a financial interest, often combination with costs. In addition productivity, other frequently examined were costs (10%), soil nutrients (9.5%), compaction (9%). least (16%). may be due lack knowledge issues area. Summary Sustainability achieved when all dimensions are balanced. results show imbalance, aspects being weighted more heavily than aspects.
