ABSTRACT
Abstract The current study was carried out to examine the spatial and temporal variations of physicochemical water quality parameters Lake Bunyonyi. observations were made on surface Bunyonyi for 1 year determine quality. basic 12 variables used measured monthly at nine stations. Water temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), turbidity, electric conductivity (EC), pH Secchi depth (SD) in field, while like total nitrogen (TN), phosphorus (TP), nitrite-nitrogen (NO 2 -N), nitrate-nitrogen 3 soluble reactive (SRP) determined following APHA 2017 standard guidelines analysis. Taking into account drinking by Uganda National Bureau Standards (UNBS) World Health Organization (WHO), index (WQI) Temperature, DO, pH, turbidity EC did not differ significantly among stations ( p > 0.05) but showed significant months < 0.05). Likewise, TN, TP, NO -N, -N SRP WQI values ranged from 28.36 49 across 28.2 56.2 between with an overall mean value 36.9. exceed UNBS WHO standards all According these values, generally belongs ‘good’ class terms based classification. findings are fundamentally important policy makers setting effective lake management.
