ABSTRACT
Abstract Slope stability is an essential aspect of geotechnical engineering. Unstable slopes or stable influenced by external factors may result in a catastrophic disaster called landslide. In seismically active areas with steep terrain, landslides commonly occur and are regarded as one the most severe threats. Bangladesh has not suffered any destructive earthquakes recent years but considerable risk facing such owing to its geological conditions. Although slope failures occurring Rangamati Hill Tracts mainly rainfall-induced, due seismic Bangladesh, it assess earthquake-induced failure vulnerable areas. this study, authors analyzed at three locations using pseudostatic approaches. The approach variation force based on coefficient was utilized determine critical Using Newmark’s rigid block method, permanent displacements for various conditions were calculated Kobe earthquake. analysis provided crucial insight into state locations. One location low factor safety (FS) value angle 30° greater, whereas others have 50° greater. displacement also showed that 3 highest lower angle, 1 2 showing relatively better results than 3. Structural bioengineered preventive measures needed area reduce vulnerability possible failure.
