ABSTRACT
China's high-speed railway (HSR) is booming recently, the HSR's performance of energy conservation and carbon reduction has attracted much attention. This study developed a new life cycle model consumption greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on HSR by analysis (LCA), covering stages infrastructure, train, operation, based TLCAM (Tsinghua-LCA Model). A case Beijing–Shanghai been studied to show that full GHG transportation are 0.4 MJ km−1 per capita 0.04 kg CO2e capita, respectively, which far less than aviation, gasoline vehicles, diesel electric vehicles public vehicles. With cleaner power structure progress train technology, in 2020 could be reduced 20% compared 2015. indicates electricity generation mix load rate important factors influencing life-cycle transportation. It recommended improve coverage network, accelerate upgrades, trains, promote low-carbon development supply strengthen realize advantage transport mode China. can used achieve low transformation sector oil safety situation.
