ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to quantify relationship between acute kidney injury (AKI) and alcohol use disorder (AUD).We used a large academic medical center MIMIC-III databases AKI disease mortality burden as well progression in AUD non-AUD subpopulations. We dataset compare two different methods encoding AKI: ICD-9 codes, Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes scheme (KDIGO) definition. In addition subpopulation, we also present analyses for hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) alcohol-related cirrhosis subpopulations identified via ICD-9/ICD-10 coding. In both KDIGO encodings AKI, subpopulation had higher incidence (ICD-9: 43.3% vs. 37.92% subpopulations; KDIGO: 48.65% 40.53%) dataset. dataset, than (ICD-9/ICD-10: 12.76% 10.71%). rate with AUD, HRS, or consistently that only datasets, including after adjusting severity using estimation Disease rates were similar subpopulations. Our work shows patient number patients AKI.
