Surgical management of bilateral scapular winging in a previously healthy 10-year-old boy: A case report

ABSTRACT
Scapular winging is a pathological condition that occurs due to dysfunction of any scapulothoracic muscles, most commonly the serratus anterior which innervated by long thoracic nerve.Herein, we report 10-year-old boy presented with bilateral scapular for few months, associated vague discomfort upon shoulder movements. After taking history and performing physical examination tests as electromyography, he was diagnosed idiopathic there no obvious cause or risk factor his winging.Scapular causes decrease strength range motion shoulder, usual complain patients unpleasant cosmetic appearance prominence, this condition, if left untreated, can various negative consequences on joint, detailed exam reinforced electromyography are crucial in determining winging, it has many causes, initial management be conservative, but surgical approaches have been described more severe cases compromise function, choice approach depends underlying overall clinical picture patient.bilateral rare only 26th were reported literature, multiple treatment conservative at early stages, option should considered when function become compromised.
