ABSTRACT
This paper presents a critical evaluation of the thermal performance analysis inverted cooling tower, which was conceived as new tower prototype that prevents dispersion pollutants to atmosphere during its operation. The device can be classified mechanical forced draft, counterflow-parallel flow tower. combination Merkel and Poppe methods counterflow, parallel counterflow/parallel arrangements has been discussed, for total 5 different approaches. method prediction reports higher numbers than method: from 3.84% 6.64%. A number is obtained arrangement compared counterflow achieve same cooling. Differences 1.12% 12.19% are observed range tested water-to-air mass ratios. rigorous uses theory combines (main novelty this paper) recommended evaluate performance. Not only it provides best predictions outlet water air temperatures (0.44 °C difference 0.74 air) but good approximation complex underlying physics problem state accurately determined.
