ABSTRACT
Sepsis-induced liver injury (SILI) is an important cause of septicemia deaths. BaWeiBaiDuSan (BWBDS) was extracted from a formula Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, Lilium brownie F. E. Brown ex Miellez var. viridulum Baker, Polygonatum sibiricum Delar. Redoute, Lonicera japonica Thunb., Hippophae rhamnoides Linn., Amygdalus Communis Vas, Platycodon grandiflorus (Jacq.) DC., and Cortex Phelloderdri. Herein, we investigated whether the BWBDS treatment could reverse SILI by mechanism modulating gut microbiota. protected mice against SILI, which associated with promoting macrophage anti-inflammatory activity enhancing intestinal integrity. selectively promoted growth Lactobacillus johnsonii (L. johnsonii) in cecal ligation puncture treated mice. Fecal microbiota transplantation indicated that bacteria correlated sepsis required for anti-sepsis effects. Notably, L. significantly reduced activity, increasing interleukin-10+ M2 production Furthermore, heat inactivation (HI-L. alleviated SILI. Our findings revealed as novel prebiotic probiotic may be used to treat The potential underlying at least part, via johnsonii-dependent immune regulation production.
