ABSTRACT
This work reports the laser surface modification of 304S15 stainless steel to develop superhydrophobic properties and subsequent application for homogeneous spot deposition. Superhydrophobic surfaces, with steady contact angle ∼154° hysteresis ∼4°, are fabricated by direct texturing. In comparison common pico-/femto-second lasers employed this patterning, nanosecond fiber used in is more cost-effective, compact allows higher processing rates. The effect power scan line separation on wettability textured surfaces investigated optimized fabrication parameters given. Fluid flows transportations polystyrene (PS) nanoparticles suspension droplets processed unprocessed wetting substrates investigated. After evaporation complete, coffee-stain observed untextured but not surfaces. Uniform deposition PS particles achieved deposited material confined smaller area.
