ABSTRACT
Bariatric surgery is evolving as a successful tool for managing morbid obesity and T2DM. This study aimed to identify predictors of diabetes remission after two types bariatric procedures. This prospective enrolled 172 patients with associated T2DM scheduled surgery. Two laparoscopic procedures were done; single anastomosis gastric bypass (SAGB, n = 83) sleeve gastrectomy (LSG, 68). Lipid accumulation product index (LAP) quantitative insulin sensitivity check (QUICKI) used evaluate lipid profile sensitivity. years condition DM was evaluated complete (CR), partial (PR), or improvement. The primary outcome measure remission. Two surgery, 151 available evaluation, where 75 (49.7%) achieved CR, while PR found in 36 (23.8%). CR significantly younger age, shorter duration (p < 0.001, both), higher C-peptide GLP-1 levels 0.001 p 0.002, respectively), 0.027). On multivariate analysis, DM, lower BMI, the independent factors predicting CR.Complete can be nearly half SG SAGB. preoperative BMI are remissions.
