ABSTRACT
The adverse effects of climate change and variability are hindering agricultural productivity in developing countries. When combined with the laborious nature irrigated agriculture, many smallholder farmers these countries abandon irrigation systems or occasionally fail to implement an event due other commitments. Therefore, this necessitates smart technology advances agriculture deal problems energy use efficiency, cost, water conservation, drudgery. This study aimed at a mobile solar-powered control system for real-time scheduling using feedback from soil moisture sensors. A (Smart Irri-Kit) was developed schedule automate delivery crops based on levels. Itincorporates automated tank level that triggers pump activation during irrigation. Kit designed, fabricated, programmed, field tested Makerere University Agricultural Research Station Kabanyolo, sandy clay loam soil. In study, efficient relay updates were achieved. Smart Irri-Kit sensors able detect no significant difference gravimetric method. development presents sustainable solution optimizing practices, contributing conservation improved crop yield. integration solar power enhances its autonomy reduces operational costs. Future research directions include incorporation weather parameters advanced communication capabilities remote monitoring control. Overall, holds great potential promoting practices
