ABSTRACT
The resistance of cancer cells to a variety structurally non-related cytotoxic drugs is known as multidrug phenomenon (MDR). In cellular membranes an activity MDR transporters such P-glycoprotein (ABCB1) affected by their lipid environment. Many various compounds have been examined for ability restore drug-sensitivity resistant cells. Statins, inhibitors the key enzyme mevalonate pathway HMG-CoA (3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A) reductase are commonly prescribed in order reduce serum level cholesterol and diminish risk cardiovascular disease. Statins that influence composition cell membrane way they also exert on bilayer properties appear be good candidates modulators. this work it was shown statins - mevastatin simvastatin antiproliferative, pro-apoptotic reversing drug effect human colon adenocarcinoma line LoVo its drug-resistant subline LoVo/Dx. A hypothesis checked whether flavones, which well able biosynthesis cholesterol, may change anticancer statins. Our investigations revealed combined use studied flavonoids results enhanced growth inhibition apoptosis lower proliferation compared application only alone. Moreover, LoVo/Dx stronger decrease doxorubicine observed presence combination with flavones only.
