ABSTRACT
The growing use of phytotherapy in clinical practice arouses interest studies using medicinal plants as active ingredients for new medicines. Ipomoea pes-caprae has a wide the treatment inflammatory disorders, skin wounds, stings, and painful rheumatic processes. Assayed this study are physicochemical characterization gel developed with extract evaluation its anti-inflammatory healing efficacy, addition to antiedematogenic action on Bothrops snake envenoming mice. qualitative quantitative analyses hydroethanolic by mass spectrometry showed 18 phenolic compounds, highlighting high content chlorogenic acid (0.92 µg/g), neochlorogenic (6.07 isochlorogenic (0.80 µg/g) compounds. formulation was stable relation physical-chemical characteristics during time analysis considered safe topical animals, causing no irritation. Although results have shown an absence activity model ear edema induced croton oil (acute inflammation), herbal efficiently inhibited carrageenan paw chronic multiple applications oil, which may indicate possible performance under kinin pathway such bradykinin, histamine, serotonin. Wound group treated I. accelerated compared placebo group, also confirmed through histological data. Edema erythromelas venom reduced associated antibothropic-crotalic serum, whereas antivenom alone not effective. This approach presents promising based potential therapeutic disorders.
