ABSTRACT
Balanites aeqyptiaca (BA) seeds were toasted at 70 °C, milled and the oil expelled to resolve meal which defatted balanites protein concentrate respectively. These subjected analysis using standard methods. There exist marked trend between meal, incidences of diabetes. This work investigated anti- diabetic effects supplemented diets in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced rats. The rats fattened for two weeks with high fat diet (HFD) introduce Hyperglycemia then made by intraperitoneal administration STZ (35 mg/kg body weight) fed containing 5 % (DAPM) (APC) 14 days. effect on blood glucose, serum glutathione peroxidase (GPx), transferase (GSH), thiobarbituric acid reactive species (TBARS), α-amylase intestinal α-glucosidase activities investigated. was increase TBARS, pancreatic α-glycosidase corresponding decrease GPx GSH contents control groups. trends however, reversed meals from inhibit inhibitory activity vivo. Thus, anti-diabetes properties may be attributed influence its constituent phytochemicals starch digestion as well endogenous enzymes activities. study revealed that aduwa proteins concnentrate demonstrated potentials used functional ingredients food materials could also income access low resource populace.
