ABSTRACT
Facilitating the anaerobic degradation of long chain fatty acids (LCFA) is key to unlock energy potential lipids-rich wastewater. In this study, feasibility psychrophilic treatment LCFA-containing dairy wastewater was assessed and compared mesophilic treatment. The results showed that at 15 ℃ feasible for wastewater, with high removal rates soluble COD (>90%) LCFA (∼100%). However, efficient long-term required prior acclimation biomass temperatures. microbial community analysis revealed putative syntrophic acid bacteria Methanocorpusculum played a crucial role in during both treatments. Additionally, fungal-bacterial biofilm found be important Overall, these findings demonstrate industrial wastewaters highlight importance understanding communities involved process.
