ABSTRACT
Children with a behaviorally inhibited temperament during early childhood have been shown to an increased risk for developing anxiety disorders. This study evaluated the efficacy of prevention program aimed at reducing in preschool children.Participants were 86 children aged 41-57 months and their mothers. selected if mothers reported high levels child behavioral inhibition on screening measure. Participants randomly allocated nine-session intervention or waitlist control condition. Mothers both participated intervention.At follow-up, group had significantly fewer clinician-rated disorders mother-reported symptoms than baseline but this change was not different seen group.On average, across course study, decreased all irrespective group. A number potential reasons are discussed along implications research clinical practice.
