ABSTRACT
Indigenous Peoples are the original inhabitants of Canada and made up three distinct groups: First Nations, Métis Inuit. About 40% Nations people with Registered or Treaty Indian status live on-reserve. Relative to general Canadian population, living on-reserve more likely in inadequate housing conditions that include significantly higher rates mold growth overcrowding, as well a significant amount existing stock need major repairs. Efforts improve must be understood context colonial policies, which have systematically prevented from obtaining safe, secure, sustainable housing.
