ABSTRACT
Systematic characterization for the relationship between electropulse processing conditions and microstructure has been carried out in present work. It is found that can refine porosity alter grain morphology considerably. A with optimum electropulsing parameters reduce over 75% volume fraction of more than 70% average pore diameter comparison reference sample without electric treatment. Electric current treatment promotes growth dendrites smaller thickness primary arms dendrite prevents liquid entrapping growing solid grains. The former caused by effect electricity-enhanced kinetic mobility on radius curvature at tip dendrite. latter attributed to effects thermodynamics microstructural formation such as enhanced connectivity conductive phase. microstructures obtained are favourable heat conduction, structural strength crack prohibition. However, excess pulse frequency width generate unwanted counteract effect. research reveals a perfectly controversial solidification condition oxide materials metals alloys. results confirm from opposite side validity pulsated solidification.
