ABSTRACT
Background and aims: Alcohol overconsumption is a risk factor for disease progression in patients with presumed metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver (MASLD).How commonly this occurs how it affects to major adverse outcomes (MALO) not well known. Methods: We did register-based cohort study, including all diagnosis of MASLD Sweden between 1987 2020.Patients were stratified on cooccurrence diagnoses alcohol-related (ALD) or alcohol use disorder (AUD) prior diagnosis.Incident MALO:s derived from national registers.Cox regression was used calculate hazard ratios incident MALO.Results: A total 15,107 identified.Median age 55 years 52% female.1,843 (12%) had ALD AUD.During follow-up, further 787 (5.2%) received AUD.Patients previous AUD at before baseline considerably higher rates MALO compared without (19.5% vs 7.8%, aHR=3.12,95%CI=2.74-3.55).Acquiring an after associated (aHR=5.81,.Conclusions: diagnosed diagnosis.Such have MALO.Correctly separating vital assess prognosis.
