ABSTRACT
In situ formed TiB2 particle reinforced aluminum matrix composites (TiB2/Al MMCs) have some extraordinary properties which make them be a promising material for high performance aero-engine blade. Due to the influence of particles, machinability is still problem restricts application TiB2/Al MMCs. order meet industrial requirements, particles on MMCs was investigated experimentally. Moreover, optimal machining conditions this kind were in study. The major conclusions are: (1) force bigger than that non-reinforced alloy and mainly controlled by feed rate; (2) residual stress compressive while nearly neutral; (3) surface roughness smaller under same cutting speed, but reverse result observed when rate increased; (4) multi-objective optimization model removal (MRR) established, set parameter combinations obtained. results show great difference from SiC provide useful guide better control process material.
